All of the breastfeeding experts recommend waiting to introduce a bottle until your baby is at least three or four weeks old if possible so the baby has plenty of time to figure out the boob before trying something else. What they don’t tell you is that if you wait too long or don’t use bottles regularly once introduced, your baby may not take one at all. That’s where we’d found ourselves. Since I’m home with Lillian all the time it wasn’t the end of the world but it would still be nice for JiT to have a chance to feed her occasionally (or maybe even for us to go on a date and get a sitter at some point). So I kept trying. And trying. And then I gave up. But today Lilly was suddenly trying to put anything and everything in her mouth so I figured we should try it again and guess what? Success!!
She still way prefers the boob but at least we’ve got another option now. It’s the little things these days.
