6 Weeks Left!
At this point, several thoughts have begun running through my head on a pretty constant basis. In no particular order, they are:
– How did this go so fast? How am I going to care for a baby? By myself? In Florida?!
– I can’t WAIT to meet this little person!
– We have GOT to get the car seat. Now!!!
That last one is just a matter of logistics. JiT and I were home in Illinois over Mother’s Day weekend and our families threw us a really lovely baby shower (that’s where I’m heading, along with Momma, my sis Lo and my G-ma in the pic). People were so generous and we received a ton of adorable and very necessary baby items as well as a bunch of gift cards to get the larger items we need.
So I’ve been in serious nesting mode for the last week, as things like strollers and bottles and breast pumps arrive at the house. But for some reason, two of the most vital items are still looming on our giant baby to-do list: we still need to visit Target for the car seat. And I still haven’t ordered our cloth diapers. For anyone following that dilemma, I ultimately decided on Best Bottom diapers along with some G Diapers just for kicks. We even received a few gift cards to help offset the cost (thank you Momma and Sis!). For some reason, I think my ability to remain calm over the next month is going to hinge on having the car seat installed and the cloth diapers washed and ready.
This weekend, we take our Childbirth Class at the hospital. I’m extremely excited to see what thats all about and tour the hospital maternity ward.
From there, I guess its just a matter of getting the baby’s room finished, washing all the little clothes and continuing to stock the chest freezer. I’ve been baking bread and making some favorite casseroles and other dishes that we’ll be grateful for in a few months (though none have been picture worthy as casseroles go).
So its mainly just a waiting game. Tick tock, tick tock.
