I’m stumped. As I mentioned a few months back, I won a contest through my company granting me $1000 and an extra week of vacation to use towards a trip to Tuscany. JiT and I are thrilled and originally planned to make this our honeymoon. However, after further discussion, we’ve decided that timing for a trip to Italy would be better if we waited until next fall, when the weather in Italy will be better and we won’t already be completely exhausted from our wedding. Plus we completed SCUBA certification classes with the intention of doing some SCUBA diving on our honeymoon….on a beach…not in Italy.
Sooo…we’ve decided that instead of doing a grand, epic 2 week honeymoon like we’d oringally planned, we’ll do a shorter (and hopefully cheaper) trip in March, followed by the larger Italy trip in the fall. But now I’m stuck on where we should go for our honeymoon.
Before the Italy thing every came up, I’d had my heart set on Belize, so we could go stay in our own little hut and tour ancient ruins and what-not in addition to diving. I’d looked at this place, this place and this place. All are now out of our price range, I think.
We’ve also been thinking about going to a Sandals resort…my sister and her husband went to one in St. Lucia last year and loved it….and EVERYTHING is included. But with the airfare, its not really THAT cheap…and I’m afraid it might be a little…generic? Is that the right word? Just not very unique I guess.
JiT and I have NEVER been on a vacation together where we weren’t with family or friends (EVER), and we haven’t been on a vacation at all in a couple of years, so I really want it to be special and unique. But, in order for us to not break the bank before we do this Italy thing I’m kind of stuck. We really need to get something booked soon so I’m hoping you guys can help. Any ideas?
P.S. Not Mexico.
